Q: Do I have to pay any upfront costs?
A: No. We offer a No Collection ~ No Fee service, which means we only get paid when you get paid.
A: If we recover your debt (or debts) we take a percentage in commission the amount of which would have been previously agreed with you.
A: We like to give our clients some positive news within 14 days.
Q: What does your debt recovery service involve?
A: We begin by issuing carefully structured letters and by contacting your debtor by telephone. If we get no response to these letters we will visit them in person.
Q: What do I have to do to give you authority to recover a debt?
A: Simply fill in a one page document, provide us with evidence of the debt, such as an invoice or County Court Judgment certificate, sign a authorisation letter and we will do the rest.
Q: Can we claim your costs back?
A: If your terms and conditions state that all debt collection costs will be recovered, can we add our costs to your debtors outstanding balance. We can give advice on amending your terms and conditions to make allowance for debt collection costs.
If the debt is a business to business (B2B) debt there may be some recoverable costs, such as interest and compensation in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
Q: Do you provide legal advice?
A: No. Where we cannot collect the debt, we give you our opinion as to whether further legal action would be successful, and can give the name of a good solicitor if required.
Q. Can I afford to outsource my credit control?
A. Can you afford not to?
Outsourcing your credit control operations can save you money, not only by quicker collections, but also by reduced staffing costs. Outsourcing has become common practice as a way for companies to utilise an expert and flexible work force for a fraction of the usual cost of employment.
Q: What if the debt is disputed can you help?
Our agents have been fully trained and we can help by negotiating a settlement on your behalf. If this is the case you will be informed of any offer of settlement and it will be left to you to decide whether to accept or decline any offer.
Q: What happens if I receive payment directly from a debtor after you have been instructed?
A: As soon as we are instructed we contact debtors directly. Sometimes this is all that is needed to spur them into settling their debt, as they understand that we are determined to recover payment. If the debtor decides to pay you directly it is no problem, we will send you an invoice for commission.
Q: Can you help if I am interested in starting legal action?
A: Yes. We work with a number of award-winning firms which issue proceedings on our behalf, keeping costs to a minimum.
Q. How old a debt can you collect?
A. We can collect debt up to 6 years old, but we must stress that these aged debts are very hard to collect and success rates are very low compared to more recent debts.
Q. Can I use your documents as evidence?
A. Yes, any documents we send you can be used as evidence. This will show that you have tried to collect the debt yourself before taking court action. Generally, when you can prove to the court that you have taken reasonable action to recover your money, the Judge is more likely to award a judgement in your favour.

What our clients have to say
I had been trying to recover this account, but was having no success. DS Debt Collections contacted me, and with 7 days I had received the first payment of an agreed arrangement. All other payments were received. Had it not been for DS Debt Collections I would not have recovered any money.
